6th Grader Ad Competition

I can’t express how insanely great this advertisement is that a 6th grader created. The written copy is perfect! It flows in great order and has a humorous/serious tone. There is a great future for this clever person.

Patagonia Black Friday

We all know Black Friday is a day of binge shopping. People are buying things they don’t need just because its cheap. Patagonia printed an ad in the New York Times (one of the priciest places to do so) that says “Don’t buy this jacket.” There is much deeper meaning behind this ad and I find it quite clever and also very confusing. Patagonia is an upscale brand that has a high price point, but yet you are paying for quality. The whole point behind this is as they say on their blog “It’s time for us as a company to address the issue of consumerism and do it head on. The most challenging, and important, element of the Common Threads Initiative is this: to lighten our environmental footprint, everyone needs to consume less. Businesses need to make fewer things but of higher quality. Customers need to think twice before they buy.” It is a pretty clever marketing campaign because people will think they are noticing this issue and people will relate to them in turn making more fans of Patagonia. They caused quite a stir with this ad, but I think they were just trying to think different.

Samsung Advertisement

I was recently having a conversation with my cousin in the living room when I hear this captivating melody. I turn around and stop mid sentence to watch this incredible ad. I am not big on technology and I do have a bias opinion with Mac products, but after seeing this commercial I was completely stunned. This ad has everything a great advertisement should have. It captures the attention of the audience and it makes them want to buy the product. This was perfectly executed especially having a hard competition with the Apple marketing department. I hope you enjoy.
